This incident has aggravated tensions, with Russia perceiving it as a significant provocation. The nature and details of the attack remain a point of contention, with varying accounts and limited independent verification.

BBL Extends Gratitude to Zaman Khan, the 'Yorker King,' for Thrilling Fans Down Under

During the current season 13 of Australia's Big Bash League (BBL), the stint of Pakistan's emerging fast bowler, Zaman Khan, with the Sydney Thunder has reached its conclusion.

The Big Bash League (BBL) expressed gratitude to Zaman Khan for his participation in the current season, showcasing their appreciation through a social media post. In the video, Zaman Khan was lauded with the title of the 'Yorker King,' acknowledging his exceptional performance in delivering precise yorkers during the matches.

His yorkers proved to be both impressive and nearly impossible to play, leaving even top-notch batters like Glenn Maxwell struggling to defend against them in the current BBL season. It is this remarkable display that has earned him the well-deserved title of the 'Yorker King.'

Zaman Khan showcased his skills in four matches for the Sydney Thunder, securing a notable 8 wickets at an impressive average of 16.38. Despite his individual performance, the team experienced limited success, managing to secure victory in only one out of the four matches played.

It is important to highlight that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected requests from both the Melbourne Stars and the Sydney Thunder to extend the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for Haris Rauf, Zaman Khan, and Usama Mir.

The young 22-year-old paceman showcased outstanding skills in recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) seasons, playing a pivotal role in Lahore Qalandars' two-time title victories. His exceptional performances in both the PSL and BBL have thrust him into the limelight, earning him recognition. Additionally, he was a valuable asset to Pakistan's squad during the recent ODI World Cup in 2023.

Democrats escalate efforts to urge Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from the Trump case.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is under increasing pressure from Democrats to recuse himself from a case involving former President Donald Trump’s presidential immunity. The call for recusal is based on concerns about Thomas's ability to maintain impartiality due to his wife's participation in efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

The recent immunity case serves as the most recent examination of the court's newly released code of conduct. Last month, all nine justices, including Thomas, endorsed the 14-page document delineating their expected conduct and performance of official responsibilities.

In relation to the alleged conspiracy to obstruct the 2020 election results, four charges have been brought against Trump. His legal team contends that presidential immunity provides protection from prosecution. However, U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan ruled against this argument in December. Subsequently, Trump filed an appeal, and special counsel Jack Smith requested the Supreme Court to expedite the process last week. Trump’s legal representatives are expected to respond to Smith’s request by Wednesday.

In a recent letter, eight House Democrats, headed by Rep. Hank Johnson (Ga.), the leading Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee’s courts subcommittee, are urging Thomas to disqualify himself from the case, referencing the court’s new code of conduct's directives on neutrality.

Concerns were specifically raised about Thomas’s wife, Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, whose conservative activism has set her apart from other spouses of Supreme Court justices. source

Ginni Thomas, previously adamant that her professional endeavors were independent from those of her husband, exerted influence on the Trump White House and lawmakers to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 victory. She engaged in over two dozen text exchanges with Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in an effort to overturn the election in the weeks following the vote.

Additionally, she corresponded with lawyer John Eastman, an advocate of a marginal legal theory proposing that Vice President Mike Pence could impede the certification of Biden’s electoral college win. Thomas also attended the Stop the Steal rally prior to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack and affirmed to the House committee investigating the attack last year that she still harbored the belief that the 2020 election had been stolen.

Pakistan Announces Test Squad for Australia Tour 2023-24; Shan Masood Named New Test Captain

Pakistan Announces Test Squad for Australia Tour 2023-24; Shan Masood Named New Test Captain

Pakistan has revealed an 18-member squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against Australia, set to commence on December 14, 2023. Shan Masood has been appointed as the new Test captain of the national cricket team and will lead the side for the first time. The squad features the inclusion of stylish batter Saim Ayub and fast bowlers Khurram Shahzad and Aamir Jamal, all of whom receive their maiden Test call-up. The announcement was made by Pakistan Cricket's new chief selector and former pacer Wahab Riaz.

Following fast bowler Naseem Shah's unavailability due to a shoulder injury, left-arm pacer Mir Hamza has been called up to the test team. Additionally, nine players from the World Cup squad have been retained as Pakistan continues their tour Down Under with a stop in New Zealand to play five T20 internationals. It's worth noting that Wahab Riaz only announced the squad for the three test matches in Australia.

The selectors have been impressed by the performance of the flamboyant and daring opener Saim Ayub in domestic cricket, leading to his debut in T20Is where he has already played 8 international matches. Meanwhile, left-arm fast bowler Aamir Jamal brings experience from 4 T20Is, and right-arm medium pacer Khurram Shahzad stands to make his international debut if selected for the playing XI.

Wahab explained that Naseem, who sustained an injury during the Asia Cup and subsequently underwent shoulder surgery in the UK, would only be able to bowl at 50-60 percent of his capability in three weeks. This was the reason why his inclusion was not taken into consideration. Regarding the unavailability of pacer Haris Rauf, Wahab mentioned that Rauf has expressed concerns about his workload and fitness, and as a result, he has made himself unavailable for the upcoming tour.

Mir Hamza's most recent Test appearance took place against New Zealand in Karachi in January of this year; however, he was subsequently left out of the squad for the Sri Lankan tour. Meanwhile, Former captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, Agha Salman, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, Imam ul Haq, Abdullah Shafique, and Mohammad Wasim Junior have all been named in the World Cup team and have also been chosen for the upcoming test series in Australia.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, the ex-skipper and wicketkeeper, spinners Abrar Ahmed and Noman Ali, and all-rounder Faheem Ashraf have all been included in the squad. The selectors have opted not to include opener Fakhar Zaman, leg spinner Usama Mir, and all-rounders Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed for the test tour.

Wahab indicated that the squad was selected with the challenging Australian conditions in consideration. "We have taken into account the nature of the pitches and bolstered our pace bowling resources to provide the management with flexibility in team combinations across all three Test matches," he explained. The team will undergo a training camp in Rawalpindi from November 23 to 28 prior to departing from Lahore on November 30.

Revised Test Match Schedule

  • 1st Test: Perth, 14-18 December 2023
