Uganda has made history by qualifying for a senior ICC World Cup for the first time.
The 20 teams have been confirmed for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be hosted in the USA and West Indies.
Uganda has secured a decisive nine-wicket victory over Rwanda, solidifying a top-two placement in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa qualifier and thereby securing their berth in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies.
Additionally, Uganda will be joining Namibia from the Africa qualifier in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will notably include 20 teams for the first time in the tournament's history.
Qualified Teams for the Event
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, England, India, Ireland, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Uganda, United States of America (USA).
Before today's historic victory, Uganda had secured wins in four out of their five matches, prevailing over Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and Kenya. Their only setback came against co-qualifiers Namibia, who have maintained an undefeated record in the tournament thus far.
In today's crucial game against Rwanda, Uganda's Alpesh Ramjani, Brian Masaba, Henry Ssenyondo, and Dinesh Nakrani each claimed two wickets, dismissing their opponents for 65 runs in 18.5 overs after opting to field first.
